Help Earthquake Victims in Herat
Donation protected
Dear Friends, Family, and Kind Souls,
We are reaching out to you with a heavy heart and an urgent request for aid due to an unprecedented catastrophe. Afghanistan, which is now going through a catastrophic economic and humanitarian crisis, has suffered tremendous damage as a result of a recent string of earthquakes that have killed thousands of people and forced tens of thousands to flee their homes.
Saturday’s magnitude of 6.3 earthquake followed by eight strong aftershocks – shaken hard-to-reach areas 19 miles (30km) from the provincial capital of Herat, collapsing rural homes and sending panicked city residents into the streets. “Besides the 2,060 dead, 10,000 people are injured and many more people are still under the rubble. Twelve villages in Zindah Jan and six in Ghoryan district are completely reduced to rubble” “One video, shared online, shows people freeing a baby girl from a collapsed building after being buried up to her neck in debris. A hand is seen cradling the baby’s torso as rescuers ease the child out of the ground. Rescuers said it was the baby’s mother. It is not clear if the mother survived.”
The survivors have nothing in the area. They need food, clothes, tents, and most importantly medicine. The earthquake hit very remote and poor areas and with winter approaching, the affected areas will soon experience extremely cold conditions. Many families have lost both their primary earners and their homes. They need urgent needs and proper shelter.
Together, we have the ability to restore hope to communities that have lost it and to reconstruct lives. Every donation, whatever of amount, will be extremely important to this humanitarian endeavor. Let's come together as a global community at this critical time to support these families in Herat City.
The funds will be sent directly to Afghanistan and will be used to purchase medication, food, and other items necessary to provide relief to the victims of the earthquake.
Thank you for your generosity, compassion, and unity in supporting us. Your support will be a beacon of light in the darkness that currently envelops these beautiful, resilient communities.
With heartfelt gratitude,
