Help the Tomasik Tennis Academy in Zimbabwe

We are the Tomasik Tennis Academy, a non-profit tennis school based in Bulawayo, Zimbabwe. We aim to get kids off the streets and guide them to focus on sports. By teaching and honing the tennis skills of eager young players, we can build careers, expose our kids to possible scholarship opportunities and ultimately break the cycle of generational poverty.

The Tomasik Tennis Academy provides underprivileged kids with the following:

• A safe environment to play tennis

• Pay school fees

• Tennis equipment

• Tennis gear

• Transportation to tennis matches across Southern Africa

• Pay tournament affiliation fees

• Pay for hotel accommodation and food during trips

Our boys and girls range from 6 and 18 years of age; they are all stars in their own right and have already achieved some success on the tennis court!

Your financial contribution will help us with the following:

• Day-to-day running expenses of the school

• Tennis equipment and gear

• Exercise equipment including jumping ropes, dumbbells, reaction balls, etc

• Transportation to tennis tournaments, affiliation fees, meals and accommodation

We need to refurbish the courts at the rented space in Bulawayo; the cracks make it unsafe for our kids to play. The long-term goal is to buy land to build 8 courts and create a space where kids can escape with a kitchen, dining hall, gym, library, educational training centre and recreational facilities. We want to pay it forward by shaping up the courts at the current rental facility so that the broader community can benefit once we leave.

Unfortunately, Africa is seen as a place where investors would not automatically generate financial success. Many good tennis players across Africa lack the funding and training that many others across the globe can access. Raising funds would allow us to create the backbone for a system that could funnel elite talent to the various tennis academies worldwide. With proper funding and investment, Africa could become a hotbed of future Wimbledon champions!
