Help the Sunrise 50!
Hi friends!
We're raising funds to help feed 50 amazing Sunrise activists. On May 28, in 100-degree heat, they started walking out of Paradise. They will finish their 266-mile trek in San Francisco.
They're marching to build support for a new Civilian Climate Corps and draw attention to local effects of climate chaos.
To quote marcher Madeline Ruddell, 16, of Sonoma: “I’m tired of inaction while watching my city burn. In the past four years alone I’ve had to pack more than ten evacuation bags."
On June 13, Bay Area activists will come together at Marin Civic Center to serve lunch, host a brief press event, and honor these eco-warriors.
Can you help out? In the shadow of the Frank Lloyd Wright-designed gem, and with your generosity, the Sunrise team will eat a vegan lunch from Ultimate Souvlaki, answer questions from press, and meet local environmental leaders like Chance Cutrano. Chance is a board member at Sierra Club Marin, Director of Programs at Resource Renewal Institute, and Fairfax town council member -- all at age 27.
“The next generation of environmental leaders understand what is at stake for our planet and our communities if we don’t ramp up investments in climate solutions and the workforce necessary to implement them,” said Chance. “I’m honored to welcome these leaders to Marin and to join their call for a new Civilian Climate Corps.”
Whether you can donate $2, $20, or more, please join Chance and me, as well as other members of the Bay Area environmental community, to help the Sunrise Trek make a difference.
