Dave Strama, his wife Chris, their daughter Mandy, and son Andrew are the heart and soul behind Union Signs and Printing in Joliet, Illinois. As a family friend, I’ve seen firsthand how much care and dedication they put into their business and their community. On January 29, 2026, tragedy struck when a devastating fire destroyed their printing business, burning it to the ground. The fire was extensively covered by local media including the Patch, Joliet Herald News, and most of the Chicago television stations. The loss has been overwhelming, not just for their livelihood, but for their sense of stability and hope for the future.

 Union Signs and Printing isn’t a large corporation—it’s a true mom-and-pop, family-run business. The Strama family has poured everything into making it a place that supports not only themselves, but also their customers and neighbors. With the business gone, they are facing the challenge of rebuilding from scratch, and the financial strain is immense. The funds raised here will go directly toward replacing the essential printing equipment lost in the fire and helping the Strama family cover personal living expenses as they work to get back on their feet.
