HELP THE SOMERS FAMILY FIGHT CANCER NY JETS FANS

Donation protected
Strong, loving family that has been through more than a single family should and yet their only starting the biggest fight, keeping daddy here.

Fin is 34 yrs old with two daughters, Kelsi (13) and Penelope (5) a son Noah (12) and wife Nicole (33)
In 2015 the Somers family were excited to announce they were expecting a baby boy Riot Gerard Somers. The baby boy they had been trying for almost 4 years.

August 2015 Fin had to make a choice, save his unborn son Riot or the mother Nicole. Fin and Nicole had to say goodbye to their little boy the same day they said hello.

On April 1st 2017 the Somers family purchased their first home to start a new happier chapter of their life.

January 2019 Fin started to not feel well and knew something was wrong when he was unable to partake in his 5yr old birthday party activities.

March 2019 Fin went in for a colonoscopy and was informed he had a tumor in his rectum that looked to be non cancerous as well as ulcers in his stomach.

April 1st exactally 2 year as a homeowner Fin received a phone call informing him that the tumor in his rectum was infact cancerous. Another colonoscopy would be needed.

At the end of April Fin was informed that the tumor had grown astronomically and had now breached every layer of his rectum. Fin was now categorized as stage 3 and an MRI was needed to see if it has spread to good other organs.
May 2019 Fin received his MRI results. Stage 4, it had spread to his lymphnodes.

Plan of action: chemo to stop the spreading, radiation to shrink the tumor, and surgery to remove the tumor and install a permanent colostomy bag. Simple right???

After 6 days on chemo Fin landed himself in the emergency room of the hospital,  47lbs lighter, and completely dehydrated. The  Plan was a failure.

New plan of action: regulate pain, radiation to shrink the tumor, Then chemo (with the hopes that it hasn't spread) and surgery.

Today Fin will be admitted into the hospital for and IV so he can have pain meds through IV at home with the hopes that it can make him as comfortable as possible. Radiation  starts this week as well. Along with a surgery for a port to be placed in his chest for easier and less painful access of medications and fluids.

Everyday is a new obstacle for the Somers family and no one has a map or knows the rules. In this stressful literal fight for life, the Somers family are in need of a small miracle. Fin was the primary bread winner leaving the Somers family in hardship. Nicole is now the only source of income trying to make ends meet. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Let's help the Somers family be as stress free as possible as they can put all their energy in fighting cancer and keeping their family together

Finn starts his last round of chemo on the 31st.
Yes, if everything went as smoothly as one would hope, fin would be finnished with chemo by now. unfortunately that is now how things work.

On July 31st Fin will start his last 14 day cycle of chemo. Once finished he will get a scan... the whole family has been waiting for. With the results we will know if the cancer shrunk, stay the same or grew.
Depending on the scan results it will determine our next plan of action.

we apologise for not updating as much as people would like, sometimes it's hard to write about your struggles. We thank everyone for their prayers and support. The support from everyone helps us through the moments we have a hard time seeing our way through. Thank you all so very much for reaching out and caring. We will forever be thankful.

Update: In August fin noticed more pain cing from his right abdomen and after tests they found 3 spots of cancer on his liver. We rushed our wedding and put off surgery for a few days so fin could go into surgery with better thoughts since this week in general is a very bad week due to the loss of our son and the birthday of fins oldest son. So we dressed like pirates and had a wedding and pirate party in one days before fin went into surgery. Surgery didn't go as planned and his gaul bladder and 2/3rds of his right liver lobe had to be removed. As he was recovering from this he had more pain but on the opposite side and the lymphnode was pressing on his organs stopping his bladder from working correctly so on november 23rd he had surgery placing a stent which went bad aging leaving him with a nefrostomy meaning he has a permanent tube through his back and into his kidney that drains into a bag as if life isnt hard enough already ,the biopsy takin while the surgery insued  came back as positive cancer cells pressing on the organ and in the bladder. So we ask that any help is appreciated. Our future is never certain but when facing something like this it just gets much harder. Money is already tight only receiving small s.s.i. monthly payment since he can not work and I am his only means of inexpensive home care while juggling college courses and teaching the kids from home while covid 19 closes schools more often than not. So once again we ask with open hearts and minds for your support during these times . And as fin would say GET UP AND JET UP LADIES AND GENTLEMEN. WE LOVE YOU ALL. STAY SAFE AND HEALTHY AND PLEASE GET CHECKED BEFORE ITS TOO LATE. LOVE AND BEST WISHES TO YOU ALL THIS HOLIDAY SEASON
