We are reaching out to ask for a little support for our family during an incredibly difficult time.
Our cousin Teagan was rushed back to the hospital after experiencing a serious reaction following spinal surgery. What was meant to be a step forward in her long health journey has turned into an unexpected and overwhelming setback. Teagan is currently hospitalized at Sunnybrook and remains in the recovery area as the neurological unit is completely full.
She is dealing with high pressure and significant pain in her head and neck, a surgical site infection, and confirmed bacterial meningitis. Doctors are providing strong antibiotics that they believe are helping and may be adding a steroid. She is also receiving anti seizure medication as a precaution. At this time, they cannot sedate her because they need her awake and responsive. She has not been able to sleep or eat properly, and the waiting and uncertainty have been exhausting.
Despite everything, Teagan remains the same loving and bright soul we all know. She is full of smiles, warmth, and kindness, and she brings light into every room she enters. She has been bravely battling chronic health issues for years, always with grace, humor, and a gentle heart. Watching her endure this has been heartbreaking, but her strength and positivity continue to inspire everyone around her.
This situation has placed a heavy financial strain on her parents, Marisa and Terry. Terry is the only one currently able to work and has had to take time off to be at Teagan’s side. Marisa is self employed and has been unable to work for months as she continues to recover from a stroke she suffered mid last year. She is unable to drive, and travel back and forth between Barrie and Sunnybrook has become very costly. Parking, food, and daily living expenses are quickly adding up, and Teagan does not have insurance to help cover these unexpected costs.
We are not asking for much. Even a few dollars can help ease the burden and allow this family to focus on what truly matters right now, being together and supporting Teagan through her recovery.
If you are able to donate or share this fundraiser, we are deeply grateful. Thank you for your kindness, generosity, and for keeping Teagan and her family in your thoughts.
