This campaign is being set up by Julie’s work family at Maple Leaf Tours to support the Schaeffer family.
On May 19th, Julie's family was involved in a very serious car accident on Battersea road on their way to the BMX track in Kingston. All three were transported to Kingston General Hospital by ambulance. Julie's husband, John, suffered multiple broken ribs in the collision and Jacob, 13, had surgery on his broken femur. Her oldest son Jordan, 16 is still in the intensive care unit at KGH with internal injuries sustained from his seatbelt. While John and Jacob are in good spirits and slowly recovering, we're asking that everyone keep the entire family in their thoughts and prayers as Jordan may need more surgery and Julie has been by his side at the hospital since the day of the accident.
There has been an outpouring of love and support from friends, neighbours, BMX family, the boys school, our clients and the community with the constant questions, “what can we do to help?” so we have set up this Go Fund Me account.
If you have ever booked a Maple Leaf Tour (formerly McCoy Tours), then you have probably met and know our wonderful team mate, Julie. She is the smiling face that greets you as you walk into our office or the cheerful voice on the other end of the phone when you call. She is a cherished part of the Maple Leaf Tours family.
We're raising funds to support Julie's family at this difficult time as she and John will both have to take time off work in order to be with their children and recover. We are hoping to help cover the transportation costs of family members who are here from out of town, accommodations, food, rehabilitation, physio and also some damages to personal property in the incident. It will be a long road to recovery for Jordan and the family will be travelling back and forth to KGH daily indefinitely.
