A child is a wonderful blessing! However, for some couples, the path to parenthood is not easy or straight-forward. This is the case for our niece Kristina and her husband Travis. Travis and Kristina are two of the most fun loving people you will ever meet, despite the heartache they’ve endured on their path to parenthood. We hope you will read their story and help this amazing couple become the loving parents they are destined to be!
Travis and Kristina have been married for 10 years. They have been trying for years to start their family, but they have experienced several major setbacks. After three unexplained miscarriages, specialist consultations, and unsuccessful fertility treatments, they decided that adoption could be a wonderful way to start their family. In the summer of 2017 they were matched with a birth family. They waited anxiously for the baby’s birth, only to find out in November of 2017 that the birth mother was never pregnant. They’d lost the hope of parenthood along with their time, money, and emotional investment. Side note: They pursued criminal charges and on September 21st, 2018 that birth mom pled guilty.
After the first failed adoption, they decided to try again with a different agency. They were re-matched with another birth family in May 2018. Again, they anxiously waited and hoped for a successful adoption. In September, (one month before the due date) they were informed that the birth mom had hired an attorney, left the agency, and was seeking a new adoptive family. Again, they’d lost the possibility of parenthood along with their time, money, and emotional investment.
Travis and Kristina desperately want to become parents and while they can still provide a child a comfortable, loving home, their savings for adoption expenses has been depleted. Please help them get closer to their dream of parenthood whether it be through adoption, surrogacy, or more rounds of fertility treatments. Currently, their efforts are focused mainly on adoption. Due to their past two failed adoptions, the agencies they are working with are allowing them to see more low-risk birth family situations. These situations are not risk free, as every adoption has some element of risk until finalization. However, Travis and Kristina are very aware of the pain and suffering that failed matches can cause; they are being vigilant and seeking numerous personal and professional opinions before each attempt they make to match with a birth family.
