The Open Arms Home for Children

Tax deductible
It's with a sad heart that we communicate that on Sunday, November 26th around 8:30 pm, a fire occurred at The Open Arms Home for Children, in Blue Ridge, Georgia, resulting in a total loss of the home and most of the contents within the home.  Fortunately our girls and staff were able to exit the home without injury and for that we are so very grateful.

For the past four years, through a working relationship with the state of Georgia's Division of Family and Childrens Services (DFCS) and through a Residential Child Care License issued by the Georgia Department of Human Services, The Open Arms Home for Children, has provided temporary residential room, board and watchful oversite to up to 10 abused and neglected girls, ages 11-17.  Now, with our home burnt to the ground, we risk our girls being moved to other facilities that are much further away from their extended families, teachers, church, community support groups and other support personnel.

As we move quickly to find a new home and provide for our girls who have lost everything - their home, all of their personal items, (bed, bedding, pillows, cloths, games, family pictures, computers, books, personal health and beauty items, and more), we need everyone to come together to raise the funds needed to restore their hope, and give them the life they deserve.

The Open Arms Home for Children not only provides warm, clean and safe shelter for up to 10 girls, we meet their phyisical, social, emotional, spiritual, cultural and sense of permancy needs, on a daily basis. We have been providing these services with the utmost professionalism for 4 years now and the fire has devasted all we have worked so hard to achieve.

Donations have been strong from the moment word got out that we had a fire.  The overwhleming support we are receiving from our local community and those who are familiar with our cause has been incredible, however, our needs are significant and the timing to provide such needs is immediate.  If we don't get The Open Arms Home for Children back on its feet quickly, local girls will be placed in other homes far away from their support groups and we cannot let that happen.  We have a moral responsibility to care for these girls and we need your help to continue our good works.

Please consider donating.  We are a fiscally responsible 501c3 that works tirelessly to meet the needs of our girls on an annual basis.  Help us help our girls as there are unforntuantely a never ending list of girls that need our help. No donation is too small!

And the child said, "I want to live here"!
