</div>
<div>David is 42 years old. He is a husband, a father of two, and a man who has spent the last decade helping children with complicated orthopedic conditions to receive treatment in the United States. Born with Ollier disease, David spent the majority of his childhood undergoing over 30 surgeries. He has lived through the pain and the process of a rare disease and learned the power of kindness from those who helped him.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>Because of that experience, in 2016 David created the Abriendo Caminos foundation. Through his ceaseless engagement, the foundation has brought 12 children to the United States to receive the same life-changing medical care that saved him in his youth. He is turning his own childhood pain into a legacy of hope.

<div><br />
</div>
<div>On November 28, 2025, everything changed. David was diagnosed with cholangiocarcinoma, a rare and aggressive cancer of the bile duct. Since that day, our reality has been a constant battle: emergency hospitalizations, complex procedures, chemotherapy, radiotherapy, and months living apart from our daughters Macarena, 11, and Sofía, 8, far from home.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>Today, the team at Cleveland Clinic have given us a real chance: a liver transplant is the only viable option for a cure.
</div>

<div>The Insurance Gap
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>We are facing an unexpected barrier to David’s cure. Despite having maintained robust medical insurance that enabled his treatment and diagnosis to this point, we have discovered that the policy’s fine print includes a restrictive, $200,000 coverage cap specifically for transplant procedures. The estimated total cost for the transplant $1,000,000, this leaves us with a significant, unforeseen financial deficit.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>We are seeking to raise $1,000,000 to cover the gap of the transplant surgery, critical post-operative management, necessary medication, and the family’s lodging and care in Cleveland during the treatment period.
</div>
<div>$800,000 for Liver Transplant &amp; Specialized Surgery: Hospital fees, surgical teams, and facility costs at the Cleveland Clinic.
</div>
<div>$150,000 for Post-Operative Management: Critical long-term care, specialized medications, and intensive monitoring.
</div>
<div>$50,000 for Recovery &amp; Lodging: Travel and accommodation for our family in Cleveland to ensure David has the essential support system required for a successful transplant recovery.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>Our Stewardship Pledge
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>Even in this time of need, David continues to dedicate his efforts to the children that need his help and thus we have made the firm commitment: Should our fundraising efforts exceed the medical costs required for David’s transplant and recovery, 100% of the remaining funds will be donated directly to the Abriendo Caminos foundation. Your contribution is not just supporting David, it is ensuring that David’s mission - helping children who are where he once was - continues regardless of the outcome of his own journey. <a href="https://abriendocaminos.org.ec/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener"><a href="https://abriendocaminos.org.ec/" target="_blank" class="" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer">https://abriendocaminos.org.ec/</a></a>

<div>How You Can Help
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>David spent ten years helping others heal. Today, we are asking the community to do the same for him.
</div>
<div><br />

</div>
<div>Donate: Any contribution helps us close the gap left by insurance limitations.
</div>
<div>Share: Even if you cannot donate, sharing this campaign amplifies our reach and brings David one step closer to home.
</div>

</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>Thank you for your kindness, your generosity, and for believing in the mission that David has built.

<div>ESPAÑOL:
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>El 28 de noviembre de 2025, todo cambió.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
</div>
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>Si puedes donar, gracias.
