Support the New Mexico Envirothon

The New Mexico Envirothon is an event in which our youth compete on their knowledge of core topics in natural resource conservation and stewardship.
Teams from high schools across the state attend a weekend-long competition in which they take hands-on exams on the following topics: Forestry, Wildlife, Aquatics, Soils, and a rotating Special Topic.
They are also tasked with developing a management plan to address a realistic and complex environmental scenario. Their plan must be practical, and address a number of concerns and stakeholders: from sensitive species to economics; from indigenous communities to municipalities.
Each team presents its plan to a panel of professionals in natural sciences and resource management.
The winning team goes on to compete with champions from over 50 states and provinces at the North American Envirothon Competition. Last year's champs from Truth or Consequences, NM travelled to Maryland and took Third Place overall!
This weekend-long event is an opportunity for students to interact with professionals from a number of disciplines, and to explore a number of career paths in the STEM fields.
As participants study in preparation for the competition, their understanding of, and interest in, math and science are enhanced. Indeed, Envirothon has provided a dearly-needed launching pad to higher education for scores of New Mexico's youths.
As a non-profit organization, the NM Envirothon has managed to provide these expreriences and opportunities with a handfull of dedicated volunteers and a shoestring budget. Your generous contribution will help to provide healthy food and modest lodging at a camp setting, to maintain our website, to provide college scholarships, and to send this year's champions to the North American Competition in Idaho.
