HELP the Mustang5 Get their Sanctuary Board!

The #Mustang5 (Blondie, Tibet, Val, Sol and Amore) were living in the wild until they were stampeded for miles by helicopters into traps by the Bureau of Land Management (BLM). They were cruely robbed of their divine right to freedom. Shortly afterwards in the captive pens they were ripped from their families forever--their hearts filled with loss. . .



Now the #Mustang5 engage in healing and educational outreach. We will always honor their spirit and never force them to perform. The #Mustang5 are amazing healers. We've witnessed their work. We are so grateful they are so close to the urban community that longs to reconnect with nature and wild ones.

People from all walks of life, and ages, come by often to meet and interact with Blondie, Tibet, Val, Sol and Amore--known as the Mustang5. These people are lawyers, teachers, students, law enforcement officers, filmmakers, Native Americans, veterans, scientists, equestrians, artists, mothers, fathers and children, PhDs, publishers, healers and other influencers.

Everyone who visits the Mustang5 in Walnut Creek, 28 miles from downtown San Francisco, learns hands on about American wild horses and their need for protection against slaughter and other threats.

The American Wild Horse Institute's mission is to protect and preserve America's last wild horses.

Please Donate towards their board where they have room to run around and are not crammed in little stalls all day. Blondie, Tibet, Val, Sol and Amore all have their own stall in the barn for shelter as needed and enjoy 2 large one acre turnouts with their friends.)

We are 100% Volunteer so all the money raised goes to the mustangs' board.

Meet Val and Sol

In 2010, we discovered California (Twin Peaks) little wild brothers, Val and Sol at a large holding facility for captives near Reno. The 2 babies were screaming after being torn from their mamas by the wranglers. We searched for their mamas but the BLM employees didn't know who their mamas were. We saved the colts, vowed to keep them together forever and we have.

So many captive wild horses at the Palomino Valley pens near Reno. Val and Sol were discovered here.

After a long strangles outbreak at BLM's Palomino Valley Center in the winter of 2010-11 that put the whole facility and all the captives in lockdown for months we finally got them out! Val and Sol were saved from the horrors of BLM and went for gentling with a wonderful natural horsemanship trainer.

The Twin Peaks band brothers have been together because wild horses have relationships too. We honor that.



Meet Blondie and Tibet

Blondie (Fox Hog - left) and Tibet (Divide Basin, WYO - right) were long-yearlings facing their 3rd strike from the BLM's failed adoptions in 2012.

In 2012, After 3-Strikes, captive wild horses lost their protections they could be killed or sold by the truckload for meat.

We waged a huge awareness campaign to educate the public about 3-Strike wild horses being sold for $10 a head by the truckload to foreign slaughterhouses. Our campaign found homes for many wild horses while educating the greater public on the BLM's 3-Strikes nightmare. Blondie and Tibet were about 18 months old and had not found homes. We couldn't risk for them to end up on a kill buyer's truck heading to Canada for slaughter so we took them in. Tom Davis was buying thousands of wild horses by the truckloads at the time. They ended up on a dinner plate in foreign countires as a delicacy. That's outrageous!


Meet Amore

Amore was born wild and free in Nevada but ended up in the hands of an Oklahoma kill buyer who bought her at auction. She was going to be trucked to Mexico to be slaughtered for human consumption--a delicacy in Asia and parts of Europe. Her previous owner brought her to the auction with braids in her hair and a note about her shots, shoes and kind temperment. I don't think they knew she could end up in the hands of a KB but that's what happened. Amore suffered a lot of trauma and will never be "used" again.

Now Amore, Val, Sol, Blondie and Tibet board on a peaceful farm at the base of Mt. Diablo State Park, in Walnut Creek, California. The farm is a sanctuary for many kinds of wildlife from quail and rabbits to deer. Several fawns have been born in this peaceful setting as well as ducklings in the spring.

Here's what Blondie, Tibet, Val, Sol and Amore need every month: Their monthly sanctuary board at a reduced rate is $450. each plus hay, grain and supplements. (Normal board at the farm is $750 per horse with a stall and turnout incl hay. The Mustang5 all have stalls in the barn.) City water is expensive. So $450 board x 5 mustangs= $2,250 plus 5% dist. fees. Total 2018 monthly board for the #Mustang5 is = $2,362. They must catch up. They are behind and must raise their March and April board!
