My name is Emily Fletcher. I am a nurse, seminarian, and missionary with Mountain of Hope, a U.S. based nonprofit organization.
Mountain of Hope was started in 1994 by a faithful group from St. Peter's Episcopal Church in Lake Mary, Florida.
It began with partnering to build a church in the rural mountain village of Quince de Enero, near San Pedro Sula, in Honduras. Soon after the church was completed, the villagers presented the need for doctors for their sick children. When the doctors arrived, they realized the sicknesses were caused by drinking contaminated river water in which they also bathed and washed their clothes. Fortunately, the Lord provided on that mission a well driller from Florida who generously donated the drilling rig that is still in use today. They have dug almost 200 wells for Quince and the surrounding villages and there is a Honduran team that continues the drilling year round, sometimes up to 800 feet deep. The medical clinic quickly expanded to include dentistry and eyeglasses and has two local Honduran doctors and dentists a few days per week year round. The clinic is open every day during the annual mission trip. Within the village, we teach bible school for the children, began a youth group for them to continue, and provide resources and training for adult bible studies to continue year round. We also recently installed refurbished solar panels on the roof to help alleviate the rising costs of electricity.
I could tell a million stories about the people we have helped and the projects we have ongoing, but instead I will invite you to partner with us financially and consider joining us on the next mission to see for yourself. It does not matter what gift you have or not, the Lord will enable and equip us for whatever job is thrown our way.
The people of Honduras are so grateful for our continuous friendship and support over the last 30+ years and we are hoping to increase funding to allow the clinic to be open five days per week. Being open more means needing more supplies, more local staff, and more funds to make it all possible. With God all things are possible and He has graciously worked in us and through us over the years to bring the gospel of Jesus Christ, hope, friendship, dignity, and ability to help with physical needs. All funds go directly to the mission. No missionary or board member is paid and raises their own funds to participate, though we do hope to raise some money in the future to provide scholarships for missionaries who would not otherwise be able to participate.
We thank you in advance and may God bless you for supporting this special ministry with prayers and donations of any amount.
