In September 2024, Chris Mazetis was diagnosed with Renal Clear Cell Carcinoma stage 4. Chris' cancer is considered high risk, meaning the most aggressive kind, due to the second CT showing lung tumor growth after only 3 weeks.

Unfortunately, due to this prognosis and the recommended treatment plan, Chris is unable to work, so the family is surviving off of Shalimar's income alone. The Mazetis Family is working with medical coordinators to help cover the over $15,000/mo in chemo pills and other treatment needs, but the most significant need comes from covering their regular living expenses with half the income, including increased childcare needs for Jaeger (2 years old) and added necessities surrounding the medical care like travel.

They are pursuing disability and other options to help supplement income, but Chris's profession as an independently employed handyman makes those options non-traditional and more complicated to secure.

The goal of $45,000 will not supplement all of what they need but will go a long way in helping them feel secure as they navigate these next steps and the long journey ahead.
