Help The Jassey’s repair their home
Mollie will be undertaking a sponsored swim on Saturday July 24th to raise money for The Jassey family in The Gambia.
Our friends in The Gambia lost the roof to their home in severe weather last week. See news story here. The effect of these storms has left them homeless until they can replace the roof. The family work hard but life is tough as they rely on tourism, and with few tourist flights arriving in The Gambia things are a struggle. The country has a very high poverty rate and COVID-19 is impacting this situation further. The government is mobilising to assist some families but the Jassey’s are not a priority group. There are 7 adults and 1 child living in the household. Most houses here are self built.
We first met Mbemba and his family over 10 years ago when we had the chance to spend an afternoon in their company at their compound, we have re-visited & remained in touch ever since. More recently during lockdown Mollie started writing to Jariatou, the youngest family member.
Mollie often says “you can be small yet make a big difference” and this is her chance to put this into practice.
Any money raised will enable the family to buy replacement fixings, wood and possibly some professional help to build a stronger roof made to last.
Mollie is wants to swim 30 lengths of a 10m pool to raise funds to help this family. Any contribution, no matter how small will make a huge difference. Thank you.
