Help the Hunters post Harvey

I was born and raised in Houston, Texas and returned to live here two years ago. I am hoping to raise emergency funds for my cousin, Laura Hunter, her husband Jay and their young child.  They lost their home to Harvey flooding and need your help to start over.

Laura is a school nurse and Jay is a teacher and a coach. They put their house in Atascocita Shores, which was not on the 100 year flood plane, up for sale in June and did not carry flood insurance.  They survived the actual storm and flooding. However, with continuous rain and waters rising, the city of Houston had to conduct the slow controlled release of two dams to avoid further devastation to more Houston homes. That's when the Hunters took in three feet of water to their home. Everything was damaged including one of their cars. They and their six year old son took refuge in a hotel and will hopefully have a place to stay an hour away in Magnolia, Texas.

They are scrambling to remove debris from their house and make repairs. Their claim with homeowner's insurance has already been denied and although FEMA can provide a low interest loan, they cannot afford to take the loan. Further, the home value is sure to plummet.

The family is safe, will have a temporary place to stay and still have one car. However, they will struggle financially. Right now, the Hunters need basic items like food, cleaning supplies, clothes and toiletries, supplies for their six year old son, basic furniture, and materials to repair their home.
