Help the Homeless with CATCH

Tax deductible
With the world outbreak of the Corona Virus the guidance is clear: Practice social distancing. Don’t leave your home unless it’s absolutely necessary and if you are sick, stay home no matter what. These suggestions can be accommodated if you have a home. But what if you don’t?

What if your home is the public space?  Where do you go when you are feeling ill and you have no home?  Do you turn to a group shelter where the likelihood of infection could significantly increase?

These are difficult questions that the most vulnerable in our beloved community will be facing in the coming days, weeks, and months.

The good news is there many organizations that are working to address and answer these confounding challenges.  One of these organizations is CATCH: Charitable Assistance to Community’s Homeless.

CATCH is a Treasure Valley based non-profit that helps families and individuals who are experiencing homelessness to secure a home. The organization works with developers, property managers, and community members to connect families with a place to live. This can take the form of affordable rent, move in assistance, and other considerations.  Many families can afford monthly rent, but simply don’t have the means to cover the hefty move in costs: two months rent, utility setups, and damage deposit.  That’s where CATCH helps. CATCH and its community partners work in tandem to eliminate or greatly reduce these barriers.

Once stable in a home, families are much better equipped to face the flood of challenges that come their way.  Nearly 80 percent  of CATCH families are financially independent in their homes one year after placement.

The need is urgent.  The ability to rapidly place the many families in need is critical.  The Corona Virus blunt force will soon be felt. We must act now to place as many families in homes as possible.  This is only possible with your help.

Please join us in this important effort.  Please share this message, and if you are able, your financial support is gratefully appreciated.
