Help the Grodsky Girls

It is impossible to imagine, let alone plan for the unimaginable. On December 16, our dear friend Jerry Grodsky died suddenly of a heart attack. Jerry was fit, ate healthy, and there were no signs of heart disease at his most recent physical. He was 50 years old.

Jerry is survived by his beloved wife, Jennifer, and two children, Rachel, who is 21, and will graduate from Grand Valley State University in April, and Rebecca, 18, who just completed her first semester at Michigan State University. This sudden loss has left the Grodsky Girls in shock and grief. They are also left with expenses that had been covered by Jerry’s salary and work benefits all of which terminated as suddenly as his death.

There are two urgent and significant needs. Please assist The Grodsky Girls with financial support to pay for medical coverage and support to pay for Rebecca’s University Housing. Rebecca has a full academic scholarship, but as most of you know housing is very costly.

This family is generous and helping others has been a foundational value in their lives. It is difficult for them to ask for help. However, it is not difficult for those of us who love them to ask for them. It’s time for all of us who have benefitted by their generosity to “pay it forward.”

 Money cannot ameliorate the pain of this tragedy, but it can soften the fear and helplessness they are feeling with the enormous and sudden financial responsibility that has accompanied the loss.
