Help the Greens with Gretta

Hi, my name is Jena and I am setting this fundraiser up for my nextdoor neighbors Kim and Garry for their dog Gretta.

Early Thanksgiving morning, they were out walking their dogs, like they do every morning when a young kid who had just gotten off work, fell asleep behind the wheel and hit both Kim and one of their dogs, Gretta with his car.

Willow, thier other dog was found fairly quickly, unharmed, and returned home.

Kim was rushed to the hospital and the search for Gretta began. At that time, we didn't know that Gretta had also been hit. Several people within the neighborhood began walking the trails behind and around our houses as well as driving around the area looking for Gretta, calling out her name but unable to find her.

We went online and posted to several local Facebook groups and Nextdoor in hopes of finding Gretta. 3 1/2 hous later, I got a call that someone found her but she was badly injured. Kim's daughter, her husband, and I rushed over and they took Gretta to the emergency vet.

Gretta was going to be OK but needs surgery as one of her legs was broken and the bone was sticking out of her leg, the tendons were torn and her side was ripped open and she will need skin graphs. The emergency vet has spent many many hours stabilizing her and her surgery is scheduled for Monday.

The cost, $20,000 when all is said and done. The family is willing to do what it takes to save Gretta even though it will put a major financial strain on them as Kim is still in the hospital with a fractured neck, hip, and ribs. We don't yet know how much the costs will be for Kim's hospital stay and how much of it will be covered by the young man's insurance, or if he even had any.

I am setting up this fundraiser on their behalf in hopes to raise the money for a family that has already been through so much on Thanksgiving Day.
