Help the Gillespie Family

Sometimes it is difficult to accept (or ask for) help, but our friend Kelly Gillespie needs our prayers and support.

On June 30, Kelly collapsed and had a seizure while mowing the lawn and had a second seizure at the hospital. During his week long stay in the hospital, many medications were administered, tests were done, and theories were tossed around. Kelly left the hospital without a definitive diagnosis, but was sent home to rest and wait for test results.

Come to find out Kelly had a tumor in the temporal lobe of his brain. On July 16, surgery was done to remove the tumor, but only part of it could be removed due to the location. Kelly handled the surgery well and his sweet wife, Jennifer, hardly left his side.

Almost a month later, the pathology results came in - cancer!

Kelly has a Anaplastic Astrocytoma Glioma grade 3. He will have radiation and chemo simultaneously for six weeks. Jennifer will drive him back and forth to Mobile, AL Monday thru Friday for radiation therapy. In addition to radiation, Kelly will take a chemotherapy pill every day. A scan will be done at the end of those six weeks to determine how treatment continues.
