Help the family of Sandridge Captain Doug Delk

On Friday, August 5th, 2022, multiple Fire Departments within Berkeley County (SC) were dispatched to a motor vehicle collision involving a large passenger bus and two other vehicles. As units arrived, they found a mass casualty incident where the bus and one of the two involved passenger vehicles were engulfed in flames. During the incident, Captain Doug Delk with the Sandridge Fire Department fell ill and went into cardiac arrest moments later. Responders on the scene immediately provided life-saving interventions, and Captain Delk was transported to an area hospital with a pulse.

Captain Delk is a volunteer firefighter. Full-time, he is a truck driver. We are establishing this fundraiser to help cover medical expenses and ease the burden placed on the family during the time that Captain Delk is in recovery and is unable to work.

This fundraiser has been established by Central Berkeley Fire & EMS with the consent of Captain Delk's family.
