Help the family of Mildred Garcia

Around 10:40pm on the 4th of July, Mildred Garcia and her 16 year old son were on the rural road near their house tending to their dog that had just been hit by a passing car when another vehicle approached and hit the pair.  Mildred was pronounced dead at the scene and her son was taken to a local hospital with life-threatening injuries. The family dog did not survive the accident. The two occupants of the other car were uninjured.

This fundraising campaign was started with the hope and the faith that we can stand with this family in this difficult and painful time, come together with immediate help to raise the needed funds for Mildred’s family to cover funeral expenses.  Today, the average traditional funeral costs between $7,000 and $10,000. This price range includes the services at the funeral home, burial in a cemetery, and the installation of a headstone.  There will be a long road of heartbreak and healing ahead for this family, especially the five children Mildred leaves behind. This is only the first step.  We, as a community can surround this family with love. Let’s provide all the help that we can, and give them as much strength as they need.
