 On what should have been an ordinary workday, Matt Estep suffered a devastating workplace accident that changed his family’s life in an instant. He lost a portion of his hand and two fingers and now faces a long road of surgeries, rehabilitation, healing, and learning to adapt to a new way of life. While workers’ compensation is expected to help with Matt’s lost income, the challenges their family faces go far beyond a paycheck. Recovery will require countless medical appointments, physical therapy and time during an incredibly difficult season. 
 
 
 If you know Katie, you know she is one of the hardest-working people you’ll ever meet. She works 70 to 80 hours every week between two jobs just to keep everything afloat. Instead of being able to slow down and focus on helping Matt recover, she’s faced with the impossible balance of continuing to work while caring for the person she loves most. As if this unexpected tragedy weren’t enough, next month Katie will also be taking time away from work to support two more important milestones for her family. Her father is scheduled to undergo surgery, and her daughter, Piper, is expected to have her G-tube removed—a moment their family has long hoped and prayed for. While Piper’s procedure is something to celebrate, it still means time away from work, medical appointments, and additional responsibilities during an already overwhelming season.
