What Is The Eco Hub?

The Eco Hub is a Refill Shop helping homes and businesses to reduce the level of single use plastic and chemicals they use by offering refills for all home/cleaning, hair and body liquid essentials & eco friendly alternatives to many general use products, in addition I run a sister company offering eco domestic cleaning.

We have been running in various guises for the last 26 months including; Pop up stall in my garden, online & over the last year at local markets.

The plan going forward was to buy a van to create a mobile Refill Shop thus allow me to service a much larger area more regularly Inc. Hemel Hempstead and out to Redbourn, Abbots Langley, Kings Langley, Bovingdon.

 

Why Am I Trying To Raise Funds?

I am trying to raise funds to purchase a much needed replacement van.

 

In August I took out a loan, sold my personal car & ploughed every penny I had into buying a used van from a local car dealer in preparation ready to take the business to the next level and also to use for my cleaning business.

 

Unfortunately over the last 3 months the van I purchased has turned out to be, for want of a better phrase, a pile of crap and for reasons I won't bore you with I am having to go through a legal process to get any kind of refund.

 

In the mean time I am now completely without a vehicle which is having a massive negative impact on my businesses, my son and myself.

 

I have tried leasing but due to the massive reduction in van production over the last year prices are crazy high and the wait time is at least 20 weeks.

I have applied for yet another business loan to allow me to buy another vehicle while I fight the car dealer for a refund but this process can take up to 20 days during which time I am loosing revenue every day and spending a fortune on buses, taxis, temporary insurance when I can lend a car from friends and family, all of which is putting a massive strain on the business and if I am honest me & my son to.

 

As a last resort I am looking for support from the local community to keep the businesses going.

(Maximum 2 business will be offered this package, they will be allocated on a first come first served basis)

 

*Number of entries will be linked to the exact amount donated i.e. donate £300 and you will receive 3 entries, donate £500 and you will receive 5 entries.

 

Please be aware that as an eco conscious business aiming to improve the state of our planet we can not promote businesses who's service or products are directly damaging to the environment. Our Journey So Far;

 

Three years ago I decided I wanted to do my bit to clean up the planet and began on my own personal journey to become more aware of the impact I was having on the planet and make changes were I could.

 

It wasn't easy, refillable products were not easily accessible and often much more costly than products readily available in the supermarkets, I started looking at ways I could make refilling and reducing single use plastic and chemicals in my home easier and after speaking with anyone who would listen I discovered so many people were looking for a similar solution.

 

After some brain storming The Eco Hub idea was born and 6 months later in October 2019 (while working full time) I launched a Refill Shop in my tiny back garden every other Saturday.

 

6 months later Covid-19 hit and I had to close the face to face element of the business and took it online which works ok but to reach more people and raise awareness I needed to be out there talking to people about what I do and why I do it.

 

In December 2020 I began attending local markets in Redbourn, Kings Langley and Hemel Hempstead. It popularity really showed that there is an appetite for sustainable living in these areas.

 

In early 2021 I lost my job due to Covid-19 and decided that I would put my energy into progressing The Eco Hub. After some research I decided that rather than taking on a shop I would buy a van, kit it out and launch a mobile Refill Shop, this would allow me to reach a wider area on a more regular bases to help improve the accessibility of my services.

 

Fast forward to now and unfortunately things are not going to plan which is why I need your help.

 

I appreciate times are hard right now and money is tight for many, I have fought hard over the last 24 month to keep this venture moving forward and I am desperate to see it continue going from strength to strength so if you would like to see a Refill Shop coming to an area near you please do help us make this a reality.
