Help The Davis' Get Much Needed Transportation

Hi, my name is Corporal Gary Jenkins of the Waynesboro (Georgia) Police Department (Community Services Division). I am tasked with fostering a stronger working relationship between my agency and the community we serve. In doing this, I've had the pleasure of learning and befriending extraordinary individuals from my community. With that being said, allow me to introduce you to Ms. Vernelle Davis and family.

Vernelle is a 33 year old disabled woman whose most dearest pleasure is spending all of her free time interacting with her 6 children and very supporting husband, Marcello. Back in June Vernelle learned that she was pregnant and a short while later she realized she was having twins. Vernelle, Marcello, and the kids were elated to hear of the new addition to the clan. However sadly, they all received news on the eve of Thanksgiving (11/24/2021) that there was a complication and the twins no longer had a heartbeat. Vernelle stated it was a devastating time for them all but they stuck together, encouraged one another, and kept their faith.

On October 22, 2021, Vernelle and family were headed to look at a bigger vehicle at an automobile car lot that had already approved financing with a trade at a rate they could handle. While en route, they hit something in the road that caused their tires to blow and lose control of the vehicle. Vernelle stated it was a miracle that no one was severely injured and her pregnancy was still in good standing.

But here comes the bad news... Vernelle received word that her vehicle was totaled and she only had minimum liability insurance. Because they were going to use their current vehicle as a trade for a down payment, they didn't have that option anymore.

Vernelle is seeking the assistance of generous, kind-hearted individuals to help her obtain transportation or help with a down payment of roughly $2500. This amount ensures her payments are in a range that they can handle.

A little bit more about Vernelle...

Vernelle (born in 1987) was severely burned in a house fire (intentionally set by her step-father) in 1990. 80% of Vernelle's body was burned while her 11 month old sister didn't survive the house fire. Vernelle also had another brother and sister (10 and 13 years old at the time) that were in the fire but got out in time with less than severe burns. Vernelle stated it was her brother, Joseph, who ran back into the house to get her and her younger sister (who passed away). Vernelle stated that although that happened 30+ years ago she and her brother have complications from the horrific event to this present day. Vernelle said she suffers from it physically and he suffers from it mentally (blaming himself for his younger sister's death).

Vernelle was asked how she was able to maintain a smile on her face with everything going on in her life. Vernelle simply stated she has to keep her faith in knowing it'll all work out in the end. And as long as her kids are happy she's happy.
