Grand Rising My Beautiful People's
My name is Sheridonna Fiona Wilson born in Kingston, Jamaica raised in the United States. My parents are both from "Wata House", It's a "Parish" aka City in Kingston, Jamaica they now call it "Fire House" need I say more. Did you know Jamaica is the land of the extremes Poverty and Wealth. I am well rooted and connected to the source of Jamaica because I am a maroon woman and I still have over 70 % of my family there. I am writing this letter to bring awareness to the crisis the citizens of Jamaica are facing now.
Did you know living in such suburbs as Cherry Gardens, Arcadia Gardens, and Forest Hill, the wealthy send their children to private school security forces. As a child that lived in Jamaica this was my life until I was 10 years old when I had to move to America , because of the sudden death of my father. What I didn't know was not far from these enclaves was a significant number of poor Jamaicans who live in squalor, with poor housing, limited food, and lack of supplies and inadequate access to clean water, quality health care or education. Since 19 this has gotten even worse. I believe it's one of my life missions to help change this paradigm in Jamaica and around the world.
Jamaica has always been known for beautiful beaches, the most energetic and authentic people with delicious food . Let's bring that back. People from all nationally flock to my beautiful country of Jamaica.
At this time my people are not eating, having fun , working, going to school, or even going to the beach, which is our birthright. I was inspired by the international superstar and humanitarian Reggae / Dance hall artist I-octane to lift a helping hand. He recently voiced a song
called "Stop" that really resonates with my spirit and soul. I was called to help my people in Jamaica with the crisis they are in. I was
inspired to form a non-profit called Unity Fashion Institute for crisis just like this. I know how it feels like not to have a place to call home. I was once homeless at one point in my life. I too went through my own crisis ; the emotion of not knowing how I will eat, much less feed my two kids Joseph and Isabella. I say all that to say this.
I request everybody who visits Jamaica, listen to reggae /Dance hall, who have Jamaican friends, who are Jamaican, people who love our
culture, people who love Jamaican people and our food. If you have a passion for helping others, help us reach our campaign goals. Unity
Fashion Institute mission is to feed, cloth and shelter the kids and citizens of Jamaica in need of support now. I humbly say Thank you in
