Help the Children at Aston Vision Orphanage

 In May of 2018 I took a trip that changed my life. I travelled to Tanzania, Africa where I volunteered at Aston Vision Orphanage for one month helping children learn English, playing with them, and supporting their emotional needs. It was a truly eye opening experience to see children suffering the way they were, desperate for love and affection and to have their basic needs met such as nutrition and healthcare. Tanzania is a very poor country where most of its citizens struggle to survive because they do not have adequate food or healthcare. Aston Vision Orphanage has relied on volunteers and sponsors to provide donations and help to keep the orphanage afloat but due to Covid and the lack of travel the orphanage has hit an all time low. There are no longer volunteers coming to help with looking after the children or providing meals, and many sponsors have discontinued their support due to their own financial hardships that Covid-19 has caused. This has left the children at Aston Vision Orphanage struggling to survive, now receiving only one small meal per day with no end in sight. Aston (the director of the orphanage) now has forty five children living at the orphanage whom he is struggling to feed and clothe, but he does not have the heart to turn them away as he was once himself an orphan and has since dedicated his life to saving the lives of children in need in his home country.

 

The children I met at Aston Vision Orphanage are part of the reason why I have continued to pursue a career in Social Work so I can help children like them who need help. The pandemic continues to affect everyone, however, it is most detrimental to those in developing countries who do not have the supports like we do to help them out of hard times. Aston, and the children at Aston Vision Orphanage would be most appreciative of any support you can give.

The orphanage is specifically in need of food at this time (rice, beans, vegetables) as well as firewood for cooking. All money raised will be used to help support the children's nutritional well-being.
