Fifteen years ago, The Cattery Cat Shelter opened its doors in Corpus Christi with one powerful mission: to save feline lives.

In that time, they've helped nearly 10,000 (over 600 a year) cats find their forever homes. That’s 10,000 tails held high, 10,000 families made whole, and countless hearts warmed. But the journey is far from over.

The Overpopulation Crisis Is Real

Right now, the United States is home to an estimated 60 to 100 million stray and feral cats. In Corpus Christi alone, the number is estimated to be over 50,000. Without intervention, the cycle of overpopulation continues—fast. A single unspayed female cat can lead to 350,000 kittens in just 7 years.

But There’s Hope - And Action.

The Cattery isn’t just a shelter. It's a no-kill, cage-free sanctuary, a place where cats who’ve been abandoned, abused, or born on the streets can heal, trust, and find love again. They don’t just house cats — they give them love, medical care, rehabilitation, and the chance to belong to a family who will treasure them. Paired with thoughtful adopters, The Cattery places over 600 cats into homes every year.

But the work doesn’t stop at adoptions. The Cattery is Corpus Christi’s first High Quality, High Volume, Low Cost Spay/Neuter Clinic, performing nearly 5,000 surgeries each year—often at no cost to cat owners. That’s thousands of potential lives saved before they’re even born. And now that the city has implemented a mandatory spay/neuter ordinance, the services are more critical than ever.
