Help the Brierly Family Re-Build

Donation protected
During the early morning hours of July 29th, 2019, the Brierley Farm on Route 3 in Searsmont caught fire and burned. The fire caused such extensive damage that the house was a total loss. This property was operated as a dairy farm for over 100 years, most recently by Bruce and Harriet Brierley. Many people know Bruce Brierley because he has been a Selectmen for the town of Searsmont for 30 years. Bruce had turned the farm over to his daughter Kandace Niles and her fiancé who plan to continue farming on the property. The couple were in the process of renovating the house and barn when the fire took place. Tragically, Kandace was in the process, but had not finalized, getting insurance on the property at the time of the fire.

In an effort to support the Brierley family, a benefit supper and auction is planned to help rebuild. David Marceau, Selectman for the town of Searsmont, is organizing the supper and auction for the Brierley family. The supper and auction are planned for Saturday, October 19th at 5pm at the new Searsmont Fire station. Anyone willing to help with preparing food or donating money or items to the Brierley family can contact David Marceau by sending him an e-mail at [email redacted]. In addition, an account has been set up at Camden National Bank for the Brierley Family. Anyone wishing to donate to this account can go to any Camden National Bank Office and donate to the “Brierley Farm Benefit Account”.
