It is well known Jenny has been awaiting a specialty chemotherapy treatment for her MS nearing the end of summer/September. She already has to do a leave without pay due to her Maternity Leave ending in August. Starting a new position at work puts her on probation before any benefits will kick in, and due to the recent Maternity leave she doesn't qualify for any EI sick leave without the required hours. Her health simply cannot wait that long. They were planning on covering the lack of funds she would normally contribute, by Matt working some extra shifts to fill the gap and taking time off from work, with the help of others, for her to do and recover from treatment. Jenny is unable to work as her neurologist will not clear her to do so, until the first round of treatment has been completed. He doesn't want to progress the disease any further than it already has.
On July 16, 2019, Matt was involved in a motorcycle accident, while on a training course at work. He broke his right tibia, fibula and ankle, with a total of 5 fractures in that leg. Surgery was a couple of days later and he is currently on the road to recovery at home. The time frame given to him was anywhere from 3-6mths, unable to even attempt weight bearing until a minimum of 6wks, and of course clearance from his surgeon.
It is no secret that Matt works extremely hard, with many, many long hours put in to provide for his family. On top of his career, he works as a part time Casual for Covenant Health doing hospital security, and started his own lawn business 4 years ago. WCB is covering the standard 90% of his Sheriff wage, but their family will be suffering a huge loss of income, apprx. $3500/mth, from the other 2 jobs. Needless to say, that is a significant amount of funds for their family of 5.
This couldn't have happened at a worse time. Jenny is unable to do treatment until Matt has recovered, or at the very least, close to it. He has to be able to be at home, taking care of their 3 kids, running the homestead, while she is gone for treatment and then recovering from the same.
All money donated will go straight to Matt & Jenny. It will help them immensely with the living expenses while Matt is unable to work and bring in those extra funds, until Jenny has the clearance to return to work herself.

For those that don't know me, I'm Jessica a friend of Jenny's who resides in Edmonton. Jenny and I met over 5 years ago at work where she taught me the infamous eye roll!
