Help the Beltran Family After Their Sudden Loss

Donation protected
FIELD employee Antonio Beltran is reaching out to the community to help his family cover funeral expenses for his father, 80-year-old Gregorio Beltran, who died of a sudden heart attack last Monday evening, Jan. 15, 2024 on his way home from working a full day in the fields.

Gregoria Beltran, the loving patriarch of a huge clan -- five children, 12 grandchildren, and six great grandchildren -- was born in Sinaloa, Mexico and came to the U.S. in the late ‘60s. He soon fell in love with the lovely Nellie Beltran, and the two soon married and raised their family in the central valley. Nellie passed away 10 years ago, so he lived alone. A humble man, even at his advanced age he continued to toil in the fields picking grapes, onions, carrots and more to support himself and his family.

Yesterday, when he complained of chest pains to his supervisor, he was told it was just heartburn and to return to the fields. Although he was ill, he finished his work day and on his drive home, he suffered a fatal heart attack, totaling his son’s car he had borrowed to get to work that day. Paramedics arrived on the scene to try and revive him. He was taken to Mercy Hospital, where he was pronounced DOA.

The family now no longer has their beloved patriarch, and no car to get to work. They are asking the FIELD community to help them raise money to bury their father, and help replace their much-needed transportation.

Gregorio loved to fish, spend time with his family, go mountain climbing, and loved animals. His home was full of chickens. He always felt God would take him only when he stopped working. He was a member of Harmony Baptist Church.

“There are so many wonderful memories with my dad.. Going fishing with him, or going to the casinos. Even a simple breakfast with dad was such a favorite memory. He would get up each morning at 4 am, leave for work by 5 am and get home at 4:30. All at 80years old,” said his son Antonio.

“Now we are reaching out to our community to give my father a proper burial at Union Cemetery and to help replace our car, which we need to get to work.”
