Help The Beardens

For  those of you who haven't heard the full story, here is what has happened during the last several months of our lives.

In October, my brother-in-law's girlfriend was about to give birth to their child and we agreed to let them stay with us for a couple of weeks while we helped them with the baby. When our niece was born, my brother-in-law's girlfriend became deathly sick. For a couple of months we didn't expect her to pull through. Given the circumstances, we let my brother-in-law continue stay with us while his girlfriend was in the hospital.

Apparently during this time, unknown to me, my brother-in-law had developed an opiate addiction. At first it was a well kept secret but little by little the side effects came out more and more.  It is very difficult share a house with someone experiencing the emotional rollercoaster of addiction--and taking out withdrawals on those closest to him.

Everything came to a head a couple of months ago. I discovered that my brother-in-law was stealing money from my savings account, stealing my debit card while I was asleep and making ATM withdrawals. I kicked him out and offered him an ultimatum.  Go to rehab or go to jail.  I would rather have had him sort his life out than be a felon.  Thank God, he decided to get help.

Unfortunately, my bank account was still empty after paying for the rent and bills I was left with after kicking him out.

My wife had begun drinking at the end of taking care of my brother-in-law. It was getting out of control. I lost my job from missing work to take care of issues at home.

Now my wife is about to go to a long term alcohol rehabilitation program.  Thakfully, she has found a free program that is faith based in Florida she is most likely going to be attending.  I am about to be raising my son by myself for around a  year.

I am now unemployed and broke due to a series of terrible circumstances I have lost everything. I have backed out of the lease and my landlord is cooperating greatly and is giving us a month to move out with no penalties.  Still, I won't be able to make rent and bills this month without a lot of help as I begin the process of moving out. I don't have babysitting/childcare options in the Gainesville area and wouldn't be able to afford both childcare and the bills with the jobs available in the area anyway.

I need one more month's rent and the utility bills for this month.  I also am not going to be able to be employed until I move back to my mother's house in August.  We would be so grateful for anything anyone can give.

Rent is due by the 5th.  Bills are due later.  Thanks again everyone.
