Help The Atwood Family Rebuild

Amy and Kirby have lost so much in the aftermath of Hurricane Harvey. Unlike many others who were warned of the potential for flooding and the need to evacuate, the Atwood family woke up in the middle of the night to find that they had to float their young daughter and dog out of their neighborhood on an air mattress.

Due to their distance from the nearest flood plain, they (like the vast majority of their neighbors) elected to not purchase flood insurance, just like most of us would have done. The entire first floor of their home was inundated with water, and they are now faced with the prospect of starting over from scratch. Above and beyond repairs to their home, they will also have to buy a litany of new things just to live. Everything is gone.

They still don't have access to their home, but they will be coming back to it soon to begin demolition and repairs once the Addicks Reservoir and Buffalo Bayou subside. Any support you can offer will be a huge help as they rebuild their home and get settled back in. The funds raised will be withdrawn directly by Amy and Kirby.

Amy and I met nearly eight years ago in a Gymboree class when our now second graders were tiny little babies, and she has been a dear friend of mine ever since. Amy and Kirby are so incredibly giving, and they are raising Hadley to be the exact same way. They are such a refreshing family, and I can't even begin to imagine how much they're hurting.
