Hanif Hamraz is a refugee musician who fled Afghanistan in 2014. As a musician, Hamraz has performed alongside Australian and Indonesian musicians and at the US and Indian embassies in Jakarta. But he does not have the right to work or study. He has been in limbo for over 8 years in Indonesia, a country that does not allow refugees to work or stay permanently. His chances of resettlement in a third country are uncertain. This GoFundMe is being set up to facilitate and support his resettlement in Canada.

Hanif Hamraz was only 8 years old when the war happened in Afghanistan. At that time, the Taliban started the targeted killing of Hazara people. The situation was very dangerous, so Hanif Hamraz and his family moved from Afghanistan to Pakistan, in the hope they will be safe there and continue their lives peacefully but Pakistan is not a safe place for the Hazara people.
Many Hazara people are killed in Pakistan in the past and Hanif Hamraz was targeted several times after all Hanif Hamraz decided to leave Pakistan and become a refuge in Indonesia and he hoped that UNHCR can help to move to the third country soon but unfortunately, it is more than 8 years he is in limbo and looking for a peaceful and better future life.
Now the Taliban becomes more powerful in Afghanistan, they took the government's place and rule the country in an illogical way. It makes him and other Hazaras' life more threatened if they are staying there.
