Car service so can keep seeing cancer doctors

Donation protected
Hello everyone,

I'm Tharoth, I'm 37 years old and I got diagnosed with bowel cancer last year, I've since had several surgeries the first to remove a tumour but they found more and more cancer so I ended up having to have my bowel completely removed (and sown shut from the inside), I now have a permanent stoma (that's how I poop, everyone asks that question first).

I have nothing to hide so if you're bored and want to learn more about my journey I did an 'Ask me Anything' on reddit awhile ago and spent days replying to questions asked, feel free to have a read https://www.reddit.com/r/IAmA/comments/luvt2l/im_a_36yo_who_has_had_bowel_cancer_and_had_2/

I still have upcoming surgeries one due sometime in the next 60 days (on the waiting list) due to nerve damage around my bladder and another to fix a hernia on my stoma site which I don't know the date of, I have a appointment to see the surgeons on the 25th Oct to find out more about that and have more scans to find out if the cancer is gone completely and I see my doctor weekly.

This is were my car comes into things, I'm on the disability support pension and receive in home help due to not being able to do a lot of things (no lifting over 5kg, bending, etc), I live alone and have no family as my family were abusive so I cut contact with them when I was 18 and my real life friends that I have live in other states and I rarely see them (even more thanks to COVID).

So I need my car to go to doctors/hospital etc, but my car needs (this list is from a mechanics quote):

  • Major service
  • Timing Belt replaced
  • Battery replaced
  • Brake fluid replaced
  • Clutch fluid replaced
  • Driving belts replaced
  • Wiper blades replaced
  • Cabin filter
  • Steering looked into as it is 'heavier than normal'
  • Wheel alignment and balanced
  • Clutch 'friction point is getting high' needs further inspection

I got a quote for all of these things and I was quoting the mechanic in the list above as I don't know what this stuff means and it will cost around $2000 if I get it all done at the same time rather then one by one but they say but may be more depending on what is found with the steering and clutch.

Every time I drive my car I'm running the risk of the timing belt finally breaking as it's been a year since I got this quote (total 12 year old car) and that risk is only increasing with having to go to doctors and hospital more and I know if the timing belt breaks it basically breaks the whole engine and then I'd be in even more trouble needing the entire engine replaced worst case scenario, hence why I'm here asking strangers for help so I can get it fixed ASAP and not run the risk of it becoming a lot worse.

Living off the disability pension I don't have any savings and I feel guilty asking for help, but with out my car I can't go to my doctors, go to hospital appointments or even get my medications (which I'm only able to afford due to being able to AfterPay medications) and I just don't have anyone I can ask for help, all my funds are being used to pay bills and I have no one I can turn too.

Any help would be amazing and I can't thank you enough, my online friends are family to me and asking strangers for help is embarrassing but I was encouraged to try.

Again Thank you for anything you can do to help.
