Help us obtain a family-based, non-medicalized birth! We've had a great and uncomplicated pregnancy and are aiming for a VBAC.
Its been a battle here navigating the medical system and it's been humiliating, tiring, patronizing, and frustrating. From being given a hard time for opting out of sterilization( Puerto Rico has one of the highest sterilization rates in the developing world) to even daring to go for a VBAC.
What I have experienced is normal for women here. That is why we have been cultivating a relationship with a local midwife and local birthing community, so we can have a healthy natural childbirth where Francis and a doula are allowed into the birthing room. Where Cocuyo can see her baby brother immediately and not wait 2 days missing mommy. We want our baby to be born in a natural and nurturing environment where we dictate how the first moments of our son are spent skin-to-skin with family. It would mean so much to us if you could help us out on this journey.
These funds will be used to pay the midwife, doula, and birthing supplies. If we raise more than what we need, all extra donations will be paid forward to the birthing community for other local women in need of midwife assistance or to a women's reproductive rights program.
