Calling All Fans: Help Terry Hanck & Little Village Foundation Finish GREASE TO GRAVY, His New Record in 2025!
“GREASE TO GRAVY’ is a culmination of all the styles I’ve played.”

This past year we’ve been working on a brand new album, Terry’s first since 2019’s I Still Get Excited. Well, he is STILL excited and we need your help to get this over the finish line so we can release it on the Little Village Foundation label in the first half of 2025. This will be Terry’s first release on his longtime friend Jim Pugh’s highly regarded label.

Many of the prime “suspects” are a part of this new record—Kid Andersen is again co-producing with Terry at his now famous Greaseland Studio. It’s really important to applaud the great guitarist, Johnny “Cat” Soubrand on his 21th anniversary with Terry. It was Johnny who took over on guitar in 2004 when Kid joined Charlie Musselwhite. (It was Terry who brought the young Norwegian kid here to the United States to be his guitarist back in 2001.)

Low frequency legend Tim Wagar joined in 2012 and multi-talented drummer Jon Otis locked in when Butch Cousins retired in 2023. Butch joins the dazzling circle-of-trust guests on this record, alongside D’Mar, JP Soars, Chris Peet, Mitch Woods, Andre Tarze, Chris Burns, Lisa Luschner, and of course, Kid Andersen and Jim Pugh.

Terry describes the musical contributions glowingly. “There’s a confidence that comes when you’ve done something a long time. GREASE TO GRAVY is a culmination of all the styles I’ve played. I’m just old enough to add my own style to songs that I love and feel like I can cover. But really, it’s the music I’ve loved since I was 11. The first record I bought was Fats Domino “Yes, It’s Me and I’m In Love Again” on the Imperial label. 45 RPM records were just coming out and you could buy that on 45 or 78. I bought the 78!”

Terry says he’s been lucky finding musicians young and older “who understand and love those classic rhythm and blues sounds. There’s maturity there—it’s a way of nicely saying I’m an old MF!”

Terry’s song choices……:
"Don’t Let the Green Grass Fool Ya" - Wanted to do an organ shuffle version of this tune and with Jimmy Pugh, Kid Andersen and Jon Otis I think we got some magic in the first take.
"Pins & Needles" - This is a more Zydeco version of a tune written by JoJo Russo and myself that we recorded some years back.
"The Best Years Of My Life" - A soul love song I wrote with beautiful production and contributions from Jimmy, Kid and Lisa!
"Come Back Baby" - A Ray Charles ballad ( I know I’ve got to be nuts trying to sing this!)
"Overall Junction"- A perfect Johnny shuffle ( a nod to Albert King)
"If A Politician Was A Doctor"- An original we did as a second line NOLA street parade groove.
"Run Run Baby"- I did this years ago with a jazzy- groove…this is now a dirtier R&B groove
"Sick & Tired"- (Chris Kenner/Dave Bartholomew/Fats Domino )-A classic NOLA R&R tune- from 1956. Mitch Woods on piano
"Goin’ Down Slow" (St. Louis Jimmy Odom) - It’s taken from the grooves of Bobby Bland and Hank Crawford and Jimmy McGriff’s “River’s Invitation”
"When I Get My Shit Together"- The times called for this again – a new version of my song
"Midnight On The Reef" - An original Latiny, reggae instrumental. So glad I finally was able to include my South Florida homies JP Soars and Chris Peet a on a couple of tunes. We’ve been making music together on and off for over 20 years.

It’s an understatement to point out we are in a brave new world now …but we all know that music is our glue that keep this sad ole, funny, weird, beautiful world together… and hopefully all talking to each other IN PERSON as well as the Internet. And despite all the modern beyond space age tools, making albums is still expensive...studio time, musicians, photography, graphics, marketing…so just know that any amount you can give REALLY does help. WE want to be out there next year supporting this new record… on the road, feeling all the music with you all!

THANK YOU.
