Abuser Forces Deathbed Divorce

My name is Shelly Beach, and I'm helping my dear friend Mary (not her real name because she is a victim of domestic violence) raise funds because her husband is suing her for divorce. She has an order of protection against him because of multiple instances of domestic violence. Mary is terminally with a form of blood cancer that has attacked her liver and spleen, and she has approximately a year left to live. She left her husband several months ago because of his violence and is now in a safe location. His divorce case is punitive, and she being forced to retain legal counsel. The retainer fee alone is nearly $5000 and needed immediately. Her church support group, which I lead, is raising needed funds, as Mary has no financial resources, and stress is negatively influencing Mary's fragile health. We gathered $1,400, but much more is needed.

Any contribution is enormously appreciated. We do not want our dear friend's final days to be spent worrying about finances related to a punitively-directed divorce. Mary is a very precious woman, and our desire is to provide her as much peace as possible in her final days!
