Teresa is a retired single woman who made a brave decision to sell everything she owned along the Front Range, including her home, to move closer to her daughter, son-in-law, and grandchildren in a rural area. Her dream was to renovate a small house on their property, hoping for a simple, peaceful life surrounded by family. Unfortunately, her journey took a difficult turn when she was misled by dishonest contractors who promised an easy fix. Instead, Teresa was left with a house infested with black widows, brown recluse spiders, and severe structural rot—conditions so dire that the home should have been condemned.

She began this project last fall, but despite her efforts, no real progress was made—only mounting expenses and disappointment. When we evaluated her situation, it was clear we couldn’t walk away. My team and I have stabilized the exterior, made the structure sound, and properly installed and flashed the siding and windows. Now, with the exterior secure, we are preparing to pour sidewalks and complete the exterior painting. The next step is moving inside, but even for a small home, the list of repairs is long and the financial strain is immense.
