I'm Kimmy and this is my dog, Teppy. Nine years ago I adopted her as a puppy and she's been my best friend ever since. She loves picking cherry tomatoes, chasing her squeaky ball, and keeping me from having nightmares.
Yesterday, something happened to Teppy that has caused a drastic shift in her quality of life. It's unclear what exactly happened (I wasn't in the room when this started) but she is limping, walking with a hunch, having trouble standing up. She is in constant pain and can't do much more than lie on the floor and cry. The pain is bad enough that she can't sleep through the night.
This is tearing me up, because she has been there for me through so much of my own chronic illness and pain, and I feel powerless to help her. From the reading I've done online, I believe that she has a slipped disc. I need to take her to a vet as soon as possible, but right now I don't have a typical job. I live with my grandma and assist her with her daily needs and tasks. I have no savings and no valuable possessions to sell. I do not qualify for a CareCredit card.
I'm asking for help to cover her vet bill. She is not established with a vet in my town yet, so I can't get her in for an urgent visit anywhere but the emergency vet. If I'm right about this being a slipped disc, she may be responsive to a conservative care plan (muscle relaxers, pain management, hot and cold therapy, limited activity) as she hasn't lost the use of her legs, isn't losing bowel control etc. However, if she doesn't get better, the other option is a surgery I won't be able to afford. My goal is to raise $1000 to potentially cover euthanasia costs along with the vet bill. I am afraid I'm about to lose my best friend.
Any help is appreciated. I love you guys a lot.
