Dear All,
Teo is a little boy of nearly 18 months old who suffers from bilateral tibial hemimelia. In other words he doesn't have both tibias.
What has been proposed to us by surgeon for this type of pathology is amputation.
An american surgeon practicing at Paley Orthopedic & Spine Institute at St Mary's Medical Center in the US, Florida, dr Paley, offers a surgical alternative way to avoid amputation. He has already done this type of intervention on many children who had sufferd from this condition and had been operated on in US , which confirmed our willingness to try this alternative to amputation.
If it were up to us, we would be with our son in Florida at dr Paley's clinic but money is an obstacle. The total cost of the operation for both legs estimated by St Mary's Hospital is 393,307 dollars (356,882 euro).
This is very difficult for us to ask for your help and we would be very grateful for any assistance that is given.
