Hello, It's Tegan! I'm a Para Horse Rider and Black Disability Activist from Bristol on a journey towards earning my spot on a Paralympic team. This year to stay on track I aim to compete with Coco at my first international competition (3 day long event). To attend such an event I also have to bring my team of Coach, Groom, Mumager and of course, the horses which as you can guess adds up. When you consider transport, accommodation, stabling, entry, etc... the estimated cost is £1,500. But even to get to an international we have to do a few things along the way - earn points at local competitions, attend training events and qualify by competing at the Festival of Para Dressage!
This year I also aim to get some horse transport as right now I'm having to hire which has its restrictions and is quite costly. I'd love to get a small horse lorry that my parents and I can drive, that has a small amount of living space (a bed would reduce our accommodation costs) and some storage for my wheelchair and therapy equipment. It would be amazing to be able to take Coco out more to different events - competing, training or social. The cheapest cost (without sponsorship) for a 4.2ton automatic lorry with living is £27-£35K.
