Help Teddy tackle his tumor!

Teddy Danielson, our Teddy bear, had been complaining of eye pain and throwing up very sporadically over a 3 week period. We visited the doctors’ office two times before our third visit on October 27th, when Teddy was very sleepy and nearly unresponsive. This sent us on our journey to the emergency room and PICU. Teddy bear (almost 3.5 years old) had to have emergency surgery to relieve pressure on his brain after a CT scan helped doctors discover a tumor in his brain that was blocking the flow of spinal fluid. His brain was continuing to make spinal fluid, but with no where for it to go, it had been building pressure in Teddy's brain. This emergency surgery saved Teddy's life!
Shortly after this emergency, an MRI of Teddy's brain and spine was done to learn as much about the tumor's size, location, and if it was one tumor or more. The MRI showed a single tumor in Teddy's brain, next to his brain stem and pituitary gland. Another surgery was scheduled to safely remove as much of the tumor as possible.
Three days later, Teddy went into his second brain surgery of the week. This one lasted about 8.5 hours. The surgeon was able to remove a large portion of the tumor and sent samples to the Mayo Clinic for analysis. We are waiting to learn if the tumor is cancerous or benign and what future treatment will be necessary for our sweet Teddy bear.
Our family has been through a lot in the last few weeks, a trip to the emergency room by ambulance, MRI and CT scans, several consults (dietician, endocrinologist, oncologist, psychologist), 2 brain surgeries, along with an extended hospital stay.
Teddy has a very challenging road ahead, he will need physical, occupational, speech and music therapy. We are unsure how long he will need to stay in the hospital and if future surgery will be needed. We are so very thankful for the doctors and nurses who helped to save Teddy’s life. We are going to do anything and everything to keep him healthy and safe on our road to recovery.
