Hi, we are Joy, Andrea, and Shanya, three high school science teachers in the Bronx.
Our school, Mott Hall Bronx High School , is a small, open-access IB (International Baccalaureate) school in the Bronx. This means that anyone can participate in the IB program and work towards the global standard in high school education - no entrance exams required. This allows us to serve as a reset point for students who may have struggled in the past, giving them the same opportunities as any other student who might not have had issues.
These funds will be used to buy a set of 30 laptops for use in the science classroom, allowing us to leverage e-textbooks and other innovative technologies that empower students at low cost. Interactive learning activities are affordable ways to engage students and increase learning by allowing them to implement what they are learning. Our students are going after the same goals as others, they deserve access to the same resources as well.
