Support Taylor and Allen on Their IVF Journey

I am creating this GoFundMe account for my daughter Taylor and her husband Allen. They are a dynamic couple who celebrated 4 years of marriage this past October. They've faced many trials and tribulations during this time some of which almost caused the wedding of their dreams to either be postponed or possibly cancelled. The reasons being at the time COVID restrictions were in full effect here in California and Allen was a CalFire Firefighter fighting the multiple raging California wildfires causing him to be unreachable for days sometimes. After making it through that and thankfully having their dream wedding, they were eager to start their family. They both have a passion of working with and mentoring our youth Allen has been coaching high school football along with conducting football clinics on his own time to help the young football players gain skills and confidence in playing the game. Taylor works for the school district with the special needs students to help develop their speech and communication skills. She also works at a rehabilitation hospital several times a month working with patients suffering from "aphasia" to help them back to a better quality of life.

That being a small glimpse of who they are brings us to the most recent trial they are now facing. As I stated they were egar to start a family and for the 1st 2 years it wasn't happening. They decided to seek help from a fertility specialist to see if they were facing any medical issues preventing them from conceiving, unfortunately the answer was yes. So, they began with the necessary steps of tests and hormone treatment none of which is covered by medical insurance. They did that for about a year and no luck just disappointment and the failure of an Intra Uteran Implantation (IUI). At this point they felt as if they should seek the opinion of a different Dr, especially because of the large amount of money it was costing to continue they wanted to be sure it was being used in the best way possible. After a lot of time spent researching they found a fertility clinic with both high reviews and success rate that also specializes in difficult situations such as theirs. They were once again faced with many dilemmas. The clinic is in New York and is still not covered by insurance, which means it is all out of pocket for treatment. Anyone who has been through this knows the emotional rollercoaster it is. It comes with fear of failure, multiple hormone injections and large out of pocket cost.

They reached the point of needing to travel to New York for egg retrieval and embryo implantation Invitro Fertilization (IVF), which they did. The implantation was unsuccessful unfortunately and as imagined it came with sadness and disappointment again. With that it now brings us to this point. They still have healthy embryos so they need to travel back to New York. Her body determines when they can perform the implantation, once that's determined they need to have it done within 48-72 hours. This means last minute airfare from California to New York and last minute hotel booking which comes with great expense. Travel is not the only expense they face it is also the price of all the medication she is required to have. Their finances have been exhausted and are currently working extra hours and trying to find ways to make the extra money to make it back to New York and with Gods help return to California pregnant!

Well not all is as easy as it may seem. Taylor was still experiencing challenges as it was discovered she had "endometriosis". She recently had to undergo surgery to have it removed hoping and believing this will be the last obstacle they face before they begin the next round of IVF preparation. They have been a great strength to each other as well as receiving much support from their family and friends. Getting ready for the next cycle is next on the agenda with again the need to raise all necessary funds. Both work full time jobs Allen does a 6 day work week for the overtime, but unfortunately, he was just notified that all overtime is being cut. Although he’s thankfully still conducting football clinics and private one on one sessions losing the overtime will be a big loss. In addition to her working full time for the school district she’s also working per diem at the hospital with the “aphasia” patients. All of that is very exhausting but they are trying to remain positive and keeping their eyes on the prize.

So now even with the extra efforts to raise and save every extra dollar and cutting out all activities that are not necessary, saving the money needed for this next round of IVF is not easy. All of this is why I'm here asking for help so this beautiful couple can start the family they more than deserve.
