Help Tashia Fight Myasthenia Gravis

Hello, I am trying to raise awareness and money to help my cousin Tashia Duncan fight Myasthenia Gravis disease.  What is Myasthenia Gravis?

Myasthenia Gravis is a chronic condition affecting the muscles which can cause drooping eyelids, blurred or double vision, change in facial expressions, difficulty breathing and swallowing, impaired speech, and limb weakness (i.e. legs, arms, hands, neck, etc.). Although there are treatments to help, this condition is incurable.

In addition, this is a rare condition with fewer than 200,000 US cases per year. My cousin Tashia unfortunately was added to that count when recently diagnosed on 4/15/17 of this debilitating disease.

Since her diagnosis, she's had 2 crisis events leading to hospitalization, ventilation, plasma transfusions, and sent to a rehab center to relearn key motor skills. She has lost vision in one eye while experiencing double vision in another.

Tashia can hardly walk without falling and suffers from sleep deprivation-fearing she might stop breathing while sleeping.  If it sounds overwhelming, can you imagine how she feels while living through this? Yet, this is only a fraction of what she has to endure.

Tashia has been struggling physically, mentally, and financially.  As a single mom raising 2 children, Tashia has always worked a job to provide for her family. Yet, this disease has crippled her ability to not only work but provide for herself and children.

This is why it pains us to see them struggle for survival. No one should have to worry about their basic needs while trying to battle this disease. The stress alone can cause it to escalate from a flair up to a crisis any moment.  Although some family members have tried to assist, we need more help. Please, will you help us?

On behalf of Tashia and her family, we are appealing to everyone to find it in your heart to help. We are attempting to raise at least $40,000 to help Tashia cover food, housing, medical copays, utilities, medical and personal supplies, etc. We believe this could help cover some expenses for 6months to 1year until permanent assistance can be secured.  I believe if we collectively give, I'm confident we can meet if not exceed our goals.
