My name is Tammy, and I never imagined I would be in this position. In October 2023, I was laid off from my job and lost my medical insurance. More than a year later, on November 30th, 2025, I found myself in the ER, and after several days of tests, I was diagnosed with Stage 4 Metastatic Breast Cancer. The news was overwhelming, and my life changed overnight. Since then, I have started daily radiation treatments and take hormone suppressors, with more genetic testing ahead to determine if chemotherapy will be necessary. My team of oncologists has assured me that while my cancer is not curable, it is treatable, and I am determined to fight with everything I have.

 Even with hospital discounts, the financial burden is staggering. We are already facing a mountain of medical bills, and the costs continue to grow with each treatment, medication, and daily trip to the hospital. I am still able to work for now, but I worry about the future and the possibility of not being able to contribute. My husband, Dave, is self-employed, and I don't want all of this to fall on his shoulders if my health worsens.
