As most of you know, 2024 is pounding on me and my family. We've been going through so much.
After just facing the loss of two important friends within 2 months of each other, we are now facing the loss of my brother, Johnny. He suffered a stroke on March 23rd, and is now in a coma. We are told that he has suffered a good amount of damage to his brain, and, he is not expected to recover from this. It is anticipated that he will be removed from the ventilator around April 5th. However, there is always a chance he will pass before this.
My mom is not doing very well, medically, and we've been making multiple and frequent trips to Arizona this year, alone, to help care for her, and attend to necessary family business. The loss of my brother is hitting her very hard. She is suffering from some dementia, and I'm not sure that she fully comprehends that Johnny will not recover from this. She told me today that he was sleeping this morning when she went to see him at the hospital.
Most of you don't know this, but my sister Leah, had a similar situation happen in June 2014. She was also in a coma and suffered full brain damage, and she never recovered. She is currently in a permanent vegetative state. Seeing my brother enter the same issue of losing his brain function, like my sister did, is completely wrecking my family. It's A LOT to wrap our heads around.
I started this GoFundMe because of all of these trips to Phoenix. The upcoming trips to hopefully see my brother before he passes, and to return again with my entire family from Utah for his funeral, is turning out to be draining us financially. Ivan and my son, Bain, will have lost wages. We will need to help offset some things towards the funeral, so that this doesn't fall on my mom. The multiple trips are just becoming a financial burden on us, and I can't bare the thought of not being able to be there for these important things.
I really don't like asking for help, but right now I need some help. Please consider donating anything you can, no matter how small, so that my family can be together during this terrible time, and so we can properly honor my brother without the financial aspect of this hanging over us, or preventing us from being there when we need to be.
My family and I greatly appreciate and thank you from the bottom of our hearts for anything you can do.
