Help Tami Host Indigenous Leaders during COP26
Donation protected
Dear friends, family and those who I haven't met yet. I've been based in Glasgow working on civil society hosting for COP26 since April 2020. Supporting this campaign would be hugely important to prioritise the indigenous voice during COP26. I am asking you to support hosting an indigenous elder in my flat in Southside Glasgow during COP26. With world leaders from the West staying in hotels and air b&bs costing £1000s, why are the indigenous delegates left with nowhere? Here's how you can help.
Read below to understand why the Indigenous Voice so crucial at the COP26 Climate Negotiations and important for our fight for Climate Justice.
Who are Minga Indígena?
The Minga Indigena are a group of elders from the Sápara nation, an indigenous people native to the Amazon along the border of Ecuador and Peru, who will make the lengthy journey to participate in the climate change talks in Glasgow. Calfin Lafkenche, the Chief coordinator Minga Indígena COP26, said: “Indigenous peoples protect the largest reserves of biodiversity on the planet, living harmoniously with Mother Earth, we are also the first to be affected by the effects of climate change.
How will your support help?
Your support will help cover the arrival of an indigenous delegates travelling to Glasgow from their territories far away to make their voices heard so that humanity and governments make urgent and necessary commitments to stop the climate crisis and ensure the continuity of the future of us all. Money will cover rent for their room, food, ritual ceremony supplies, warm clothes and travel around Glasgow.
Thank you for your support! If you have any questions, drop me a message.
