Help tackle food poverty

My team of pupils from Bannockburn High school have established a group - Food for All. Food for All was established through the Solutions for the Planet competition. The teams outstanding efforts has led them to being a part of the National Finals.
Food for All have a vision that they can make a difference in the world by helping to tackle FOOD POVERTY, and they need your help!
Did you know:
- 1 in 5 people live in relative poverty but 1 in 4 live in poverty, in Scotland.
- 1 in 4 parents have gone without one meal due to cuts in family incomes.
- 1 in 4 people worry about not having enough food to eat.
-1 in 8 people have gone a full day without eating.
Food for All’s big idea is a service to create food parcels, to distribute throughout our school community, to those family’s suffering from food poverty. After the government voted not to continue with free school meals during the school holidays, the team felt we needed to help the families in our community, even more than ever. In the parcels we hope to include daily essentials such as bread, milk and butter. We will also be including foods to make delicious homemade soups. We are aiming to give 20 families a soup pack each along with a recipe card to help promote and educate families on healthy meals.
Our team have now teamed up with an organisation called FareShare. Our school is currently collecting food donated by supermarkets to help families within our community. Unfortunately, this is just not enough…
We would like families to have an extra special food parcel for Christmas this year.
For a typical pack of basic necessities, we would look to spend the following:
Milk - £1.59
Bread - 85p
Butter - £1.85
Vegetable packs x2 - £2
Lentils - £1.15
Stock cubes - £1.59
This typically costs around £9 per food parcel. We would need approximately £180 to provide 20 families with this type of parcel, only once.
The more donations we get the more food parcels we can put together for families struggling at this time.
Please help us to provide ‘Food for ALL’.
